Jurgen Klopp predicts Champions League fire against Manchester City
Liverpool manager excited about the double header against Pep Guardiola’s team
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that his Liverpool side are the underdogs for their Champions League tie against Manchester City, although he’s expecting “fire” when the teams meet at Anfield on Wednesday.
Liverpool have played in two explosive games already against City this term, losing 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium before a 4-3 victory at Anfield.
“If I had the choice to watch a Champions League game on Wednesday I would watch this one,” Klopp said. “I think it’s really not … it is about tactics but there will be fire in the game, so that’s cool. And it’s at Anfield anyway, so a good atmosphere to watch.”
“At specific moments we are on a similar level, but they did it much more consistently and that’s why they have around 20 points more. So I have no problem respecting them, but we all know in this game that it doesn’t mean too much so if we see our chance…”
Whether Liverpool can handle the Manchester City attack over 180 minutes of football remains to be seen, although the sparkling form of Mohamed Salah is one reason to think the Reds can get over the line.
